Video Poker is a beloved game that usually will be bet on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your PC, using an Internet account. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards possible in order to come away with money. On this account it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the involvement with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the enthusiast puts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors should now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has selected which cards he would like to keep, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are given out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Normally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that skillful enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most beneficial machine each time.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game allow the bettor a chance to increase their wins, in which case a further round is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
