Video Poker is a popular game that can be played in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your home computer, using a web connection. The regulations are absolutely straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the greatest combination of cards achievable in order to win money. On this account it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the line of contact with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A five card hand will be "given out" on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the gambler has selected which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be dealt. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can range from machine to machine, so that experienced bettors are able to choose the most profitable game each time.
Once the first round has finished, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that might have been won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the gambler a chance to increase their winnings, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
